Masters Open Rowing is for scullers and sweep rowers who want to improve technical skills and maintain general fitness by participating in a regular coached workout. Participants must be RRC members who have an up-to-date USRowing waiver and who are capable swimmers. Social distancing, masks and equipment cleaning will be maintained according to the posted guidelines. Continued enrollment in these programs is at the discretion of the coach.
Prerequisites for joining masters programs:
At least 1 year of experience and 1 completed Novice/ Intermediate program
Capable swimmer for water safety
Current Year RRC Membership
Execution of this year’s USRowing waiver

Continue your rowing journey in a short but dedicated fall coached program. Led by Rebecca Hasson, supported by Reece Anderson and Charlotte Kaczka, this program will focus on improving technical skills and integration of new rowers into masters group.
This program is open to all masters rowers and recent novice graduates with:
✔️ At least one year of rowing experience
✔️ Completion of at least one novice
OR
✔️with coach’s approval
Boat preferences will be accommodated whenever possible.

Race clinic will run complementary to the fall program once a week. Participation in this group requires commitment to a head race. Clinic will focus on all the technical and fitness requirements of racing. More advanced technical and physical levels are required, contact programs or the coach if you are uncertain. Boat preferences will be accommodated depending on the interest.

Winter Erg is back! Erging is a full body workout and one of the best ways to condition or maintain for the upcoming rowing season! In addition, coached Erging gives you the opportunity to practice foundational techniques and will enhance your on-the-water rowing experience. All classes will meet at the Boathouse.
Class Focus: Proper Erg/rowing technique/form and conditioning.
Unlimited Class Pass for $325.00.

Equipment fee of $60 payable to Virginia Rowing Association (Use of VRA Erg’s), and signed US Rowing waiver are required for participation.

Learn to Row a Single with Coach Roger Payne
Discover the joy and challenge of single sculling in this coached program designed specifically for new rowers. This program offers hands-on instruction in the fundamentals of sculling—from boat handling and balance to stroke technique and water safety. With small group sessions and personalized coaching, you'll gain the skills and confidence to row a single shell with control and efficiency. Program will prepare you to take Captain's Test, required to row singles on your own. This program is led by Roger Payne, RRC sculling coach with over 40 years of experience and UVA Boatman Emeritus.
This program is open to all rowers with:
