Adult Programs

Adult Learn to Row - June

DESCRIPTION

Learn to Row (LTR) is designed for those with little or no rowing experience who would like to learn the basics of  rowing. Participants learn about safety, boat parts and terms, and the physical fitness relevant to rowing. Participants start out learning the correct form on a rowing machine (ashore), then move into large boats designed for stability. LTR students then progress to 90–120 minute, on-the-water practices in various  sweep (1 oar) and sculling (2 oars) boats. 


Adult LTR includes RRC membership for first-time rowers.

Novice Rowing - July

DESCRIPTION

Novice Rowing is designed as a follow up to Learn-to-Row, or as a refresher for rowers returning from a long hiatus who need to regain skills. The focus is on strengthening basic rowing skills and improving rowing fitness in large crew boats.

Classes are 90-120 minutes in length, and will include both sweep and sculling experience.

Novice Rowing - August

DESCRIPTION

Novice Rowing is designed as a follow up to Learn-to-Row, or as a refresher for rowers returning from a long hiatus who need to regain skills. The focus is on strengthening basic rowing skills and improving rowing fitness in large crew boats.


Classes are 90-120 minutes in length, and will include both sweep and sculling experience.

Spring Sculling

DESCRIPTION

This program will focus on fitness and sculling technique, especially better team integration in quads. Open to all adult members with at least one intermediate class completed. RRC membership and US Rowing waiver are due at the signup.

Junior Programs

Junior Learn to Row

DESCRIPTION

Learn to Row (LTR) for Juniors is designed for those age 13–18 with little or no rowing experience who would like to learn the basics of sculling. Participants learn about safety, boat parts and terms, and the physical fitness relevant to rowing. Participants start out learning the correct form on a rowing machine (ashore), then move into 8x+ (8 rowers with a coxswain,) 4x (4 rowers with or without a cox) or 2x sculling shells.  At least one experienced RRC Coach in a launch (motorboat) oversees practices to motivate and advise on technique.


Junior LTR includes Junior membership for first-time rowers.

Junior Experienced

DESCRIPTION

Junior Experienced Rowing is designed for those age 13–18 who have completed a Learn to Row program and who wish to work with a Coach to advance their skills.
