The RRC board announces the following change for the 2009 Racing Program.

    1. The Racing Program will be combined within the AM Advance Sweep Program.

    2. This program is open to all advanced sweep rowers (both the AM and PM programs).

    3. PM advanced sweep rowers may participate in this program during the AM rowing sessions; if there are sufficient numbers of PM sweep rowers to seat a boat, the PM sweep coach may confer with the AM sweep coach on training and train a PM sweep race boat for a regatta(s) within the PM program.

    4. The board will announce 3 to 4 regattas (more if interest warrants) before the start of the season.

    5. Rowers will sign up and pay related regatta fees in advance (fees will be announced in advance of each regatta) and will be expected to row every day in the race boat(s), including the Saturday rowing session leading up to the day of the regatta.

    6. Rowers will be seated (as designated by the coach) and train in the race boat(s) for each rowing session leading up to the day of the regatta.

    7. The race boat(s) will have prescribed workout plans (on land and on water) provided by the coach; race boat(s) will continue to row alongside non-race boat(s) during the regularly scheduled rowing program, with the Saturday row designated for competitive sprint racing and/or head racing.

    8. Rowers may participate in as many or few regattas as they wish, which will allow for more personal choice and flexibility.

Please convey your regatta selection(s) to your respective program coach to register and to have the regatta coordinator contact you.

      The Regattas:
    • 1) Occoquan (Jul 12)
    • 2) Diamond State (Jul 26)
