T-shirts
Thanks to the awesome artistic work of Scott Stroney and Mary Maher, we have new Tees available this year! Check out the design! Not only do they look great on you, but the stimulating conversation they strike up could introduce you to a new rower, and possibly a new RRC member.
Contact Scott Stroney by email (scottUVAguy@aol.com) or phone ((434) 825-6639) to get your own!
Maintenance Day
Saturday May 12th, 9 a.m., at the boathouse
We will have an equipment check and boat washing day, complete with coffee and bagels to fuel the fires of volunteers.
The objective will be to inspect, adjust and wash the sweep and scull boats, to get them ready for the new season. We will also inspect the oars and paint the new set of sweep oars just received at the boathouse. If we have time, we will also sweep out the boathouse.
Gary Sloan, RRC Equipment Manager, is looking for volunteers for the following tasks. Please email him at gary@wattmanledlamp.com with your area of interest, so he can add you to the detail roster.
- Sweep boat detail
- Scull boat detail
- Oar repair detail
- Oar painting detail
- Trailer detail
- Boathouse sweep
With regard to the new sweep oars, the RRC Board wishes to thank everyone who contributed to the purchase of the new oars. It is the generosity of the members like all of you that makes RRC a great rowing community.
Learn To Row Day
Saturday May 12th, 9-11 a.m. or 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the boathouse
Thanks to all those who have already volunteered to help on LTR Day. We are currently set with enough helpers. However, you can still help out by spreading the word to anyone who might be interested in LTR, to come on out and see what we're all about that day!
Fridays After Five
Friday May 4th, 5:30-8:00 p.m., on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall
Come visit us for one more Fridays After Five, at 5th and Main, in front of the old A&N store. We'll be the crew with the single shell, maybe even decked out in spandex... ha! Newbies, come see what we're all about, and experienced rowers, come see what's new.
Additionally, Jack Brown still needs volunteers to help make this happen! (Don't worry, you won't be forced to show off your hot spandex...) This effort on the mall is so useful (and so essential to our enrollments and income). So please volunteer to help out for some or all of that time. This is actually a really fun job, you get to see friends and talk up rowing with newcomers. If you can help, email Jack at jackbrown@virginia.edu.
Advertising
Scott Stroney has spearheaded an ambitious advertising campaign this year. If you're interested in helping out, or have creative ideas to add to his, please contact him. Remember, you guys are our best advertising, so spread the word!
...Etc.
If you've got ideas or would like to get involved in any way, please contact info@rivannarowing.org. It's your club, and we want you to help make it the best it can be! Thanks!!
